BlackPhone 2 and BlackPhone + two new secure terminals

The Silent Circle manufacturer has just formalized the BlackPhone 2 and BlackPhone +, a smartphone and a tablet designed for people who wish to communicate confidentially.

Secure data issues are becoming more strategic and Silent Circle manufacturer has understood. He also used the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to present BlackPhone 2 and BlackPhone +, terminals designed for people who want to preserve the security of their data, whether professionals or individuals.

A smartphone 5.5 “and a tablet 8″

While Silent Circle prefers to highlight the software, the manufacturer we still provided some information about the characteristics of its future devices.

Larger than its predecessor, the BlackPhone 2 should thus have a 5.5 inch screen, under which he would hide a octo-core 64-bit processor and 3GB RAM. Also note the presence of a port MicroSD and a battery of 3060 mAh.

The BlackPhone + adopts meanwhile since the tablet-has an 8-inch screen, but that’s about all we know of him to this day, with the fact that it allows to pass phone calls.

A new version of Private OS

Both devices operate under Private OS a secure operating system derived from Android. They even benefit from the new version 1.1 of the OS.

This brings some innovations, such as “Spaces” that separates the professional environment of the personal environment, like the BlackBerry Balance system. With “Spaces”, so you can distinguish the contents of the two environments (files, applications, messaging …) which consequently become independent of one another.

“Silent Suite” is another innovation of this version 1.1 Private OS: this will include the user to encrypt its data whatsoever for email, calendar, or VoIP calls.

The BlackPhone 2 should be available in mid-2015, while the BlackPhone + tablet should follow in the autumn. No price has yet been announced.
