HP Spectre x360 convertible top of the range

HP Spectre x360 convertible top of the range

The family HP Spectre is updated with the arrival of a 2-in-1: after three years since the launch of the first notebook, the Spectre XT, and exactly one year from the model detachable, the Spectre x2, the Colossus of Palo Alto introduces the convertible, the Spectre x360. Commendable work of engineering designers HP: the transformation from traditional convertible notebook has impacted very little on weight and size, despite the complexity introduced by a screen that can rotate 360 °. Compared to the first model, the thickness increases of just 1.4 mm – increasing from 14.5 to 15.9 mm – on the scale while the needle moves from 1.39 to 1.49 kg.

Also in this case, to realize a lightweight but durable, the chassis is made of aluminum processed by numerical control machines and parts of the body made in a single process. For hinges, real crux of convertible systems, HP has opted for a solution that encompasses within three spiral gears, able to allow, according to the manufacturer, a smooth and precise motion.

As for the hardware configuration, this Spectre will be available with Intel Core i5 and i7 (more precisely i5-5200U and i7-5500U), 4 or 8 GB of DDR3 memory and solid-state drives, in standard M2, with capacity from 128 to 512 Gbytes. The Monitor, a 13.3 “touchscreen of course, has a Full HD resolution, but it will be also available in Quad HD (ie 3840 x 2160).

One of the strengths of the new Spectre is undoubtedly the battery life and Hp states for this system a range of well-12.5 hours. To achieve this have been introduced some measures to limit consumption of the display, the component most exorbitant in terms of energy absorption. For example, the touch panel is connected optically to the screen (ie without any intermediate layer): this implies that, since there are no dispersive layers, to have the same brightness less energy is required. Furthermore the model Quad HD integrates technology Panel Self Refresh, which, in the absence of movement on the screen, turn off the other components of the PC and has independent to refresh the image.

As for connectivity, the Spectre x360 is equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.0 (but is absent the classic RJ45 Ethernet port), a video output Hdmi and a mini Displayport. Comes complete with the minijack audio (headphone / microphone), the memory reader Sd and the three USB ports 3.0. Finally we report that, like the other models Spectre, this also will be available in the “Pro” version, intended for business users and which differs (in addition to the version of the operating system) for the presence of a TPM chip and the service and support the guarantee of business level.
