Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 - new rugged smartphone for the Korean manufacturer

Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 - new rugged smartphone

The manufacturer announced today its new Galaxy Xcover 3 hardened smartphone which is due at CeBit, living to be held in Hanover next week.

If Samsung has removed the seal of its flagships Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in favor of external appearance, the South Korean manufacturer has not renounced offer this feature in its range of smartphones so far.

Indeed, rumors yesterday evoked the likely arrival on the market of a Galaxy S6 Active, enhanced waterproof version of its flagship smartphone.

And today, the company has announced another smartphone water resistant, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3. According SammyHub, it should present the terminal at CeBit, living to be held in Hanover next week

Third model in the range Xcover, this smartphone is even as tight as we can call it a hardened. Indeed, in addition to meeting the requirements of IP67 (which makes it resistant to dust and immersion for 30 minutes under a meter of water), he passed the tests of the US Army MIL-STD 810G and can withstand all the falls of less than 1.20m.

4.5-inch screen, 4G connection and Android 4.4 KitKat

Beyond its rugged durability, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 is a smartphone that we could classify between the entry and midrange. It thus has a 4.5-inch WVGA screen, beneath which lies a quad-core processor 1.2 GHz, with 1.5 GB of RAM. 8GB internal memory is available to the user, and a MicroSD slot for storing all kinds of data.

Picture side, the terminal carries two sensors that can be used under water: a 5-megapixel rear and another 2 megapixel on the front. Running Android 4.4 KitKat (an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop should arrive); it is compatible 4G LTE, GPS and NFC and includes a battery of 2200 mAh.

Know that this Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 also has a few physical buttons (Home, Back and Multitasking) that should allow its user to use even in harsh conditions.

The terminal itself is quite heavy (154 grams) and thick (9.95 mm), but it is the counterpart of its robustness.

No price or release date is currently unknown, but we should know more next week.
