Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - possible Mi Note tablet version

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 - possible Mi Note tablet version

Xiaomi could soon offer a new tablet. Photos posted on Weibo suggest that it would be based on the design of Mi Note and Mi Note Pro unveiled in January. The question is what it might contain.

Following a rumor relayed in October, we expected an entry in tablet Xiaomi for this winter. Finally, the model overview GFXBench during the fall has not been formalized, certainly because the digital slate market economic indicators are not conclusive, even for the iPad. However, Xiaomi may not completely abandon this segment he hosted last year with a first ambitious and cheeky model: the Mi Pad, natural adversary of the iPad Mini 2 (and 3 by extension) proposed a screen 8-inch powered by a Tegra K1 we have come to appreciate in the West thanks to the HTC Nexus 9.

Mi Pad being released in May 2014, it is natural to start to wait a few leaks about a possible successor. Weibo and was responsible to realize this expectation: two photos were unveiled earlier this week in the Chinese microblogging portal. The first presents a prototype tablet with a design very similar to Mi Note, larger and of course with a screen with different proportions.

The arrangement of visual cues is the same: the logo in the upper left corner and environmental sensors (proximity and light) surrounding the telephone receiver. Funny how, precisely, the telephone receiver is kept on this tablet. The second photo shows an assumed part of the chassis. This would be, as for Mi Note and Mi Note Pro, metal and cover the tablet’s borders.

Even if it is not visible on the first picture (or on the second course), the tablet could also keep another feature of the Mi-range earlier this year: the mineral glass coating has put forward, although course, but also in the back. What would change the colored plastic shell of the first Mi Pad (as usual Xiaomi reserves its Redmi).

No details obviously to inside of the tablet. Xiaomi he continues to trust nVidia and will include a surprise Tegra X1? Or will he choose the ease and opt for a Qualcomm chipset, including Snapdragon 810 it already uses for Mi Note Pro? In the latter case, it would compete with the Xperia Z4 Tablet unveiled recently. Whatever the choice, other leaks should follow it. It is therefore a matter to follow.
