After we unveiled its new smartphones, the Korean manufacturer is working on other terminals for out before the end of the year. The latest project is a mid-range tablet.
If we knew that Samsung plans to release a new range of tablets to compete for the iPad from mid-2015, we have learned that the manufacturer would also work to reposition the segment of tablets environment range.
A new standard has indeed made its appearance on the site GFX Bench, and it seems that this new terminal is not intended to compete with the more powerful models on the market.
9.6 inch screen, quad-core processor 1.3 GHz and 1.5 GB RAM
The new Samsung tablet, identified by SM-T561 model number, features a 9.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, with a density of 157 dots per inch. A resolution which is far from that of high-end tablets.
A quad-core processor Spreadtrum SC8830 1.3 GHz is integrated into the terminal, along with a GPU ARM Mali-400 MP2 and 1.5 GB of RAM. Proper configuration seems however insufficient to play the most advanced 3D games. Memory side, the SM-T561 tablet has 8GB of ROM, including 5.3 GB available to the user. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS are also present. It has however no information regarding the picture sensors.
This tablet should work on Android 4.4 KitKat, according GFXBench, but the version of the OS may well be changed before its release.
The question is how this new range could belong slate. Some think it could succeed the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, but nothing is certain yet to date. Obviously, we have not information about its price or release date, but we will keep you informed as soon as we know more.
