Unveiled last month, the LG G Watch Urban LTE is now preparing to join the Korean shops. The opportunity to finally discover its price. And the note will be rather salty. About 500 €.
While many manufacturers now offer boast smart watches, it is not always accurate. The adjective “connected” is probably more appropriate in many cases since part of the intelligence of the watch is the smartphone that comes with it. This is true for the Watch Apple. It is also for models with Android Wear. Of course, there are exceptions, such as the Samsung Gear S or latest LG G Watch Urban LTE.
Contrary to what one might think, it is not a simple variant of the G Watch Urban to which it makes a SIM port. I Do Not. This is a totally different model. It can of course connect to cellular networks in 4G but it turns runs on a proprietary OS rather than Google and sports a different and more imposing design to house full equipment. The memory goes to 1 GB RAM. Battery, 700 mAh. There’s even a GPS. In short, a much more interesting proposition.
Remained to know its price. Even in Barcelona, where we were able to quickly learn, LG did not release the song. This is usually not a good sign. And the price of the model without 4G, ie € 349, was not reassuring either. Our fears are confirmed today as the price of the G Watch Urban LTE has finally been unveiled in South Korea, where it will be available as of March 27 in exchange for 600,000 won, or about 500 €.
LG surpass and Apple and Watch Sport, already considered too expensive for a connected watch. And if the most complete equipment seems to justify such a tariff, the result may be the same for consumers who see there a watch more intelligent. The price is all the more surprising that even Samsung, yet less cautious about prices, preferred to stop at € 399 for its Gear S.
LG G Watch Urban LTE is already available in Korea for 500 euros
