Sony Xperia A4 - new mid-range smartphone with 20.7 megapixel sensor

Sony Xperia A4 - new mid-range smartphone with 20.7 megapixel sensor

While we expected a Sony Xperia Z4 Compact, the Japanese automaker surprises us by filling out the mid-range with the Xperia A4. Equipped with a 4.6-inch HD display, a Snapdragon 801 processor and a 20.7 megapixel sensor, it should be out next month in Japan.

Having formalized its Xperia Z4 last month, Sony releases Xperia A4 today, which appears as a compact version of its “flagship false.” This smartphone was also not really expected, at least not under that name.

We thought indeed to make available an Xperia Z4 Compact, which would have replaced the Xperia Z3 Compact the segment of miniaturized versions of Sony flagship stores. But we must believe that this year the Japanese manufacturer decided to be unpredictable.

In terms of features, this Sony Xperia A4 is positioned as the successor to the Xperia Z3 Compact. But if we follow its name, it should rather be seen as the successor of the Xperia A2, out there all stack a year, in May 2014. This was also seen as an incarnation of Japanese Xperia Z1 Compact.

Regarding its specifications, this Sony Xperia A4 has a 4.6-inch HD screen (1280 x 720 pixels) with a slab Triluminos supposed to display a wide range of colors. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor 2.5 GHz, supported by 2GB of RAM. Its internal memory is itself 16GB (expandable via its microSD port).

The highlight of the Xperia A4 is in his camera equipment, since features a 20.7 megapixel Exmor RS sensor back with f / 2.0, and image editing “Bionz for mobile” capable of mounting ISO to 12800. However, this webcam on the front of the camera is only 2.2 megapixels. It is astonishing that the difference is so great between the two sensors.

The Sony Xperia A4 corresponds to the IP68 standard, which allows it to be water-tight and dust. Side autonomy, it should be doing well since it has a battery capacity of 2600 mAh. All this runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop, and we do not know if Sony has the update or not to version 5.1.

The Japanese manufacturer has not specified its price or its release date in the trade but, according to the latest rumors circulating on the web, the Sony Xperia A4 should come out mid-June and should logically be reserved for the Japanese market.
