While currently most smartwatches allow take a day, the Swiss brand Swatch, have found the magic formula to propose a battery connected watches that lasts 6 months.

It is the CEO of Swatch, Nick Hayek, who has himself revealed the information to Swiss newspaper Handelszeitung. While there was some time mark filed several patents on technologies “based on new materials that double the performance” of the batteries, the CEO said he was working on batteries that last six months.

To pull it off, Swatch has partnered with battery manufacturer Renata and the Belenos research company. It will surprise no one, to the CEO of Swatch, battery such technology would enable the brand to have a clear competitive advantage.

For the black point of time connected watches, including Apple Watch is autonomy. While recharging every night is not in itself a major problem (users are accustomed to charge their smartphone every day), a watch is a product that we do not necessarily want to connect to daily. Besides with the PC, the smartphone, the tablet, this is one more device to reload. No top.

The Swiss watchmaker therefore intends to distinguish itself on this point and these batteries autonomy record should be created quickly because the CEO announces availability of technology for 2016. And the brand has big, since these batteries will not be reserved well connected watches.
