A new Sony smartphone appeared on Twitter this afternoon. Called Sony Lavender, it would rank as a device mid-range and benefit from a borderless screen.
Mobile branch of Sony not going well at the moment, but the Japanese manufacturer does not give up and still tries to renew for 2015 ends better than it has commenced.
After having released smartphone Xperia Z4, Sony has tried to catch up this week by formalizing the Xperia A4, a mid-range smartphone with 20.7 megapixel sensor. But like its predecessor, Xperia A4 is intended to be marketed exclusively in the Japanese market. However there would be more new to come if we believe the rumors currently circulating on the web.
Indeed, the serial leaker @upleaks posted earlier this afternoon an image showing a smartphone with a borderless screen, giving it the name “Sony Lavender”. We had already mentioned his existence here last month.
Whereas as a midrange smartphone, this Sony Lavender would be facilitated by a Mediatek MT6752 processor, including a CPU composed of eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz, Mali-T760 GPU but also a 4G compatible modem. Aside from that, we have not much information about this device except that it should be equipped with a Full HD screen.
So Sony will work to develop a smartphone borderless, like its Chinese counterparts Xiaomi ZTE and LeTV. But for now, no one has managed to create a device to “bezel-less” design. It must be said that if the aesthetic gain is undeniable, this should not be an easy task to keep a minimum of robustness by depriving borders. And that is probably the main difficulty faced by manufacturers at the moment.
