Panasonic has launched its new compact digital camera with interchangeable lens. The new Panasonic Lumix G7 comes with video recording in 4K as business card. This new Lumix allows for eight-megapixel photos from the 4K videos you’ve recorded, and has new features Burst Shooting 4K, 4K Burst (Start / Stop) and Pre-Burst 4K to help capture moving images with the maximum sharpness. Also it incorporates a 16-megapixel sensor plus a quad-core processor that allows a burst rate of up to 8 frames per second. The new autofocus technology Depth from Defocus and OLED electronic viewfinder with swing 2,360,000 dot resolution complete the features of the new Panasonic model, which will be available starting next July.
In addition to the developments at the technical level, the new Panasonic Lumix G7 fail to renew the appearance of this series Lumix cameras now proposing a design getting more sharp angles provide a more modern and elegant appearance. The G7 will be available in the standard black color of its predecessors, but also in a new finish in black and silver combination, a little style GX7, that feels really good. The rear panel has a three-inch LCD screen that can be tilted to one side and turn on itself, a feature that is very helpful when recording video. This screen has a resolution of 1.040k comes accompanied by an OLED electronic viewfinder to focus on the traditional style. Technically, the Lumix G7 is a compact camera with interchangeable lenses compatible micro 4/3 lenses manufactured by Panasonic and other big names in the photographic industry as Sigma or Tamron mount. It incorporates a Live MOS Micro 4/3 digital type sensor with 16 megapixel resolution, accompanied by a Venus Engine quad-core processor. The maximum burst speed reaches 8 fps and ISO sensitivity up to 25,600. The new autofocus system Depth from Defocus is one of the main advantages of the new G7. It is a technology that measures the distance to the subject to then evaluate two different focus levels and evaluate what the best solution taking into account both the composition we have chosen to take. All this not only get a better picture but also reduces focusing time over the previous model. The AF system also has better focus in low light conditions, as well as the Starlight AF to capture stars and constellations at night. Other interesting features are the two rings customizable user control, and WiFi connectivity to share our photos when smartphones or tablets, or also to control the camera remotely.
Although there is a feature in which Panasonic has insisted the new G7 is the 4K video recording. And the new Lumix G7 is able to record video with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, which is a quality four times higher than Full HD. Once we recorded our videos, the 4K Photo function allows us to extract eight-megapixel photos from these recordings, choosing between any frames engraved to get the perfect image. And thanks to new modes Burst Shooting 4K, 4K Burst (Start / Stop) and Pre-Burst modes enable 4K 4K burst, including recording almost 30 minutes of footage at full resolution and with different aspect ratios available.
The new Panasonic Lumix G7 will come to our country next July, and the recommended retail price of the kit with the 14-42mm zoom is 800 euros.
