Presented at CES, Neoh the home theater headphones of the French firm 3D Sound Labs has launched its fundraising campaign on Kickstarter. The goal of 80,000 dollars should be achieved without problems.
Sound home cinema in a very specific helmet, the promise may seem surprising. Yet the Neoh helmet, presented by the French 3D Sound Labs start-up at the CES in January, is rather convincing. If helmets devised to replace a 5.1 speaker kit at home already exist, Neoh provides an important new feature is the inclusion of the location of the head of the user space.
Motion sensors and algorithms developed by the company to determine when the carrier Neoh turns his head, and in which direction. The sound adjusts accordingly to give the impression to the user that is actually surrounded by speakers without the hassle of clutter and noise for the surroundings.
The helmet, however, shows a major drawback, namely that it cannot be used with a television, which seems somewhat paradoxical. For now, it is only compatible with iPad – iPhone compatibility is being developed – and Android devices. The Kickstarter page does not give information about an upcoming compatibility with Windows Phone, as well as PCs and Macs are not mentioned.
Neoh the sale price is set at $ 249, with delivery expected in June. It is possible to dispose for 209 dollars (just under 200 euros) through the Kickstarter campaign, but copies at this price are limited. The helmet is a huge success since the campaign launched Wednesday, has already raised nearly $ 60 000 on 80 000 expected.
