Embedded DisplayPort 1.4a opens the door to computers with screens 8K

Screens with very high resolution slowly starting to hole, and more and more computers display well above definitions to 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD appellation. But if the screens “Retina” are obviously very attractive for their display finesse, the most high-end models may represent true integration nightmares for manufacturers. To market its iMac with Retina 5K display, Apple eg had to create a home component to handle 14.7 million pixels incredible slab. The screen 5K Sony, it requires the joint use of two DisplayPort cables. After the announcement of DisplayPort 1.3 will allow the use of external displays 5K and even 8K with a single cable (read: From DisplayPort 1.3 for 5K screens), VESA Association has announced the arrival of a new standard, Embedded DisplayPort 1.4a, which will allow laptops and desktops to manage an internal display 8K, ie a definition of 7680 x 4320 pixels.

VESA is expected of the first uses of this new standard next year. It should of course not expect the integration of 5K or 8K screens in laptops in 2016, but this novelty will make less exceptional and therefore less expensive integration of displays at the top definition in designation 4K. The iMac Retina 5K is still only in its market, but this should not last!
