Sony announce the Xperia M4 Aqua at MWC

The Japanese manufacturer should formalize the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua next week in Barcelona. A midrange smartphone whose main asset resist water.

We announced this morning that the Xperia Tablet Z4, the future Sony tablet would be announced in Barcelona next week. But it seems that this is not the only innovation that the Japanese manufacturer has to introduce ourselves.

 Android 5.0 Lollipop, 4G, and IP68

According to the site XperiaBlog, Sony would benefit his press conference to introduce a new waterproof smartphone: the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua. This model thus succeeds directly Xperia M2 Aqua, without even proposed M3 Aqua.

If we are pretty sure that this smartphone will run Android 5.0 Lollipop, however we have no information about the rest of the specifics of this Xperia M4 Aqua. We can only assume that it should be positioned as a mid-range device, benefit from 4G connectivity and should meet IP68. This last feature would then allow it to be waterproof and resist immersion underwater (up to 1 meter deep and 30 minutes).

 A well-oiled calendar

Good news for Sony fans because, as you may already know, the Sony Xperia Z4 would not likely be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress. The Japanese manufacturer would have made the decision to launch later in the year to mid-2015.

Sony has really a well-oiled calendar, where different types of products come at a time of definite year. Thus, apart from the flagship stores, the manufacturer renewed every year different versions of its devices: when the “Compact” and «Tablet Compact » arrive in September, the tablet is it presented in Barcelona. This year it will be well accompanied with this M4 Aqua but also with the 4G version of the Xperia E4 which should also make its appearance.
