Mi 4i’s finally official. Presented by Xiaomi today in India, the smartphone is as a good friend of price midrange. Indeed count less than 200 euros for a 4G smartphone with Full HD screen, longer battery 3000 mAh and 13 megapixel cameras.
As expected, Xiaomi held a conference in New Delhi, India. An unusual place for a major launch at Xiaomi. I must say that the beginning of the rising star in the subcontinent were not very simple. It was therefore important to offer them a particularly able smartphone for a price that would be in line with the specifics of the local market. And rare opportunity, exceptional measure: it ESTNot Lei Jun, which is mounted on the stage to present the Mi 4i but Hugo Barra, vice-president of the International.
So it was good of Mi 4i were talking about the entire rumors and teasings manufacturer. The second ‘i’ is marked as if he had an important meaning. This is the “i” of the word “India”, according to Hugo Barra, as this mobile was conducted specifically for this country. It is clear that this smartphone is not directed to a Chinese customer, which can be directed towards the Redmi 2A or Mi Note until the launch of any Mi5. However, we would have preferred that it refers to “international”. Oh well.
Mi 4i is very different from Mi4, even if it takes a few external features. So this is not a lighter version or update. It is indeed a new smartphone. Halfway between Redmi 2A and Mi Note, the Mi 4i has a colored polycarbonate shell that covers the back and slices. At the front the touchscreen Full HD 5-inch Display and Sharp signed Japan Display.
Inside, we find no surprises (as suggested by the various leaks) a mid-range configuration centered around a Snapdragon 615, the octo-core Cortex-A53 Qualcomm version here “2” (with quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.1 GHz and not 1.0 GHz). This chipset still offers her class LTE, WiFi ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS Glonass. Power gain side Xiaomi says the smartphone exceeds 40000 points AnTuTu and 3DMark 5600 points. HTC Desire 820, also under Snapdragon 615, reached in our tests 28500 points, 8800 points respectively. There is therefore the best and less good
The chipset is accompanied by 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (still without extension) and a non-removable battery 3120 mAh Compatible Quick Charge. So we are on a configuration clearly vis-à-vis the Mi4 withdrawal. Next photo, we find the main image sensor E4, namely a 13 megapixel model accompanied by a 5-element optical aperture of f / 2.0 and offered by Sony and Samsung. According to Hugo Barra, photography would have been greatly improved since the Mi4, even if the sensor is the same. This is however not the video that he is better as it is here-compatible Full HD rather than 4K, but nevermind. Up front, the webcam comes down to 5 megapixels.
The ensemble is led by MIUI 6 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. The mobile is dual SIM and will be offered in five different colors: black, white, red, blue and pink. It will be available in India from Flipkart on 30 April at the price of 12,999 rupees, or 190 euros. Clearly a price very attractive. It will also be available in other countries thereafter. Yet in Europe, except through the usual importers.
