Sony has introduced three new sensors for SLR and mirrorless

Sony has added three new image sensors to its already substantial list and, knowing the success that these sensors collect on the market, you can bet that we will see them soon in some camera’s next release.

The first is an APS-C by 24 Mpixel, which joins the current improving the response speed. In the face of a frame-rate of the current maximum of 8.7 fps, in fact, the newcomer will reach 19 fps; therefore seems the ideal candidate to equip a new generation of mirrorless or future A77, which by virtue of the Translucent Mirror technology could benefit the most of the high rate of release of the new sensor.

The other two new sensors are in 4/3, which is new for Sony. The first is a 16 Mpixel, with 3.7-micron pixel, so similar to resolution sensors that equip many of MQT current, but also very fast – 23 fps. The second instead reaches 20 Mpixel, with single pixel from 3.3 microns, and reaches the maximum at 27 fps. Excluding that Sony is interested in keeping itself sensor of this size, it is expected that these will be used on future models of Olympus partner.
