A little less than a year after the release of Padfone S, Asus is already providing a successor. He answers to the name Padfone S Plus and earns a better provided technical platform. Launch scheduled today in Malaysia.
If Asus seems more determined than ever to succeed in the phone market with its new Zenfone 2, it does not mean forgetting entirely that of hybrids consisted until last year his favorite hunting ground. He has graced us with two Padfone in 2014: the Padfone S, also known as the Padfone X for customers to the US operator AT & T, and Padfone X Mini. The first end has passed the baton to Padfone S Plus freshly launched in the Philippines.
Data sheet was published on Facebook and shows several improvements since the last model. The Snapdragon 800 was replaced by the Snapdragon 801 in its slower version at 2.3 GHz; RAM has increased from 2 to 3 GB ROM and 16 to 64 GB. The rest was probably preserved: Full HD screen 5 “, 13 megapixel camera, 4G connectivity / Wi-Fi / NFC / Bluetooth, microSD card slot, 2,300mAh battery. Nothing new either side of the tablet dock, always equipped with a full HD 8, 9 “and a 4900 mAh battery.
Finally, the new Padfone confirms the slightest interest Asus now bears his former flagship range by its somewhat dated chipset. The Snapdragon 805 and 810 have already come to replace the Snapdragon 801 although it remains an interesting chipset. It also has the advantage of being less expensive, which is reflected in the sale price. The Padfone S Plus was announced at 1099 Malaysian ringgit, or about € 280. We must add half for tablet dock that goes with it. The assembly thus amounts to just under € 450.
Unfortunately, we have no information about a possible international launch.
