New Apple patent shows the future of Touch ID

New Apple patent shows the future of Touch ID

Where the Apple Touch ID technology advances are is a question we ask many. A new patent that the company just registered at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (known by its acronym in English as PTO) gives us enough clues about where Apple would reach its sensor fingerprint identity. This popular security system was released by the company in its iPhone 5S governed by iOS 7, so the first time we heard from him was in September 2013. Actually its appearance was pleasantly surprised. The company finally decided to replace its old home button by a sapphire crystal that functions as a lens.

So far Touch ID that can be used to unlock the phone and empower our purchases in stores of the firm. Simply put our thumb over the sensor you can access the device and make a purchase. However, the patented system that would allow Apple could capture fingerprint anywhere on the screen and not just over the sensor on the Home button. But this is not the thing; the new patented system would locate several fingerprints at the same time, being able to know which your position on the screen is. This would mean that recognized the footsteps of the five fingers of one hand, and after that we can further increase the security level, which is the company to pursue with this.

In the presentation of the patent, Apple explained that the proposals already have been screen with fingerprint sensors have finished degrading image quality and spoiled the quality of the touch capabilities of it. Such systems scan fingerprints can also reduce the ability of the screen to detect traditional touch inputs. To solve these problems, the company intends to implement the fingerprint sensor coal beneath the screen as a thin film. The aim would be to end the entire screen becomes touch, one of the dreams of Apple since he did in 2012 with AutenTec, the real parents of Touch ID.

We do not know if this patent is used in one of its upcoming iPhones, as getting it becomes feasible is a complicated tara. The screen is one of the most fragile of the device and also the most expensive items. Moreover, the simple fact end up creating a screen with these capabilities would increase greatly the cost of the device and less interested now Apple is doing that. With the rise of Chinese companies as Xioami or Meizu, the Cupertino firm has to get going lowering its terminals at the time of launch. The rise of low cost, which Apple is usually not a usual, is perhaps the main reason that would prevent him from reaching realize this patent, at least for now.
