Sonos has introduced a special edition of its smallest wireless speaker, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the legendary record label Blue Note jazz specialist. The new Sonos Blue Note PLAY:1, as it is called, is presented as a limited edition of PLAY:1, but finished in an attractive blue color, and will soon be available exclusively in the online store Sonos, priced retail for 250 euros. Let’s look more calmly, but first, a bit of musical history.
Blue Note Records was born in 1939 as a specialist in jazz record label. Its name comes from the “blue” note feature (blue note) that defines the musical blues scale, the note is added to the traditional scale to create the characteristic sound of jazz and blues. In this legendary label have fought the likes of Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Bill Evans or Canonball Aderley, to name a few unrepeatable classic, not to mention more recent names like Bobby McFerrin or Norah Jones . Well, Sonos celebrates the 75th anniversary of this historic label offering this limited edition of PLAY:1 decorated in a special blue color.
For those who do not know the Sonos system this American company proposes a series of speakers and audio accessories to which we can access through a wireless network exclusive manufacturer that is transmitted through our own WiFi network. The system is controlled from an application that can be installed on your smartphone, tablet or computer, and allows access to our digital collection of songs or music services on demand such as Spotify or Deezer. It is best that all components and Sonos speakers can easily be combined to create composite equipment or multi-room systems.
And by looking at the Blue Note PLAY:1, this compact speaker assumes the gateway to the world Sonos. The PLAY:1 is the smallest member of the family, and has dimensions of 161.45 x 119.7 x 119.7 mm, and weighs 1.85 kg. This is a powered speaker or rather, bi-amplified, and which has a class D amplifier for each of the two speakers that incorporates, woofer and tweeter. As mentioned above, the new Blue Note PLAY:1 is painted in blue, but if we opt for the standard version can choose from a completely blank, or the black speaker with the front grille silver finish. With PLAY:1 we can connect to our WiFi network and send music from the owning application of Sonos. If we add a second loudspeaker get a small stereo wireless, or we can buy as many PLAY:1 as rooms have to fill music throughout the house without having to connect any cables.
