AOC is the brand under which TPV Technology Limited, a leading manufacturer of LCD monitor and provider names like Philips and Sony, distributes and markets its products. No wonder then that this large “hybrid” is presented only as a “monitor”. Actually the mySmart All-in-One a2472Pw4t is much more, because in it is place a real computer equipped with the Android operating system. Simple-minded touching a soft button present on the frame can move in seconds between modes. More precisely, the button calls up a small menu with three options: D-SUB (VGA) and HDMI which select the external source and allow you to connect a PC or a tablet (the wires are included in the package), while the voice Android us into modes All-in-One.
The field test the mySmart is available in versions from 21 “and 23.6″ and we tried quest’ulti-ma. We start our road test observed as monitor classic. From the point of view of design, the mySmart is large and solid, and when you put it on the desk does not go unnoticed. The display is surrounded by an edge of 2 cm and an outer frame in black plastic, also of 2 cm. Which means that by the end of the active display to the edge of the monitor there are 4 cm per side, and this explains why they appear much larger of its 24 “scarce. Curiously, the outer frame in plastic is not resting on the display but a gap exists between the two panels of nearly half a cm. A solution that has left us puzzled when we think of how much dust and crumbs you can fit in time. It will be good to forget to eat in front of the PC.
A great monitor
The edge plastic aluminum color contrasts with the black frame and overall gives the monitor a look pleasant. The mySmart rests directly on the desk, without any support in the vertical. The stand support on the back allows tilt from a minimum of 15 degrees to a maximum of 57 degrees arriving in a nearly horizontal position. Used as a monitor performs its job very well. Supports maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels at 60 Hz and have inputs HDMI and D-sub connectors to connect to computers, smartphones and tablets. The menu management is rather intuitive, while the touch-sensitive buttons on the frame are sensitive and accurate. This is quite important because in the initial configuration colors are low and we had to work a long time on the settings before you can view the color profiles corrected. The end result, however, has met and images look sharp and brilliant. The viewing angles are very wide and allow more people to look at the screen without any problem. Within OSD menu we also find the function to draw a window on the screen that can be sized and positioned as desired to adjust brightness and contrast. This allows you to create a desktop more or less prominent than the rest of the screen. Useful if we want to preserve certain icons at a specific desktop. Decidedly uncomfortable, though, in the vision of the film. In this case you need to open the management menu and disable it.
The core Android
The mySmart is a touch monitor to two points but according to the manual, works only with the ligament-D-SUB (VGA). We have connected our HP Pavillon via HDMI and we could not prove its reactivity. As said, with a couple of touches you switch from function to monitor the All-in-One. It is equipped with Android 4.2.2 in standard and we find no application pre-installed. This simplicity helps to improve the performance and at the same time makes it easy to use even for those less familiar with the Android system. The mySmart has two USB 2.0 ports and a micro USB port on-the-go. This means that we can easily connect a keyboard and mouse ¡1 or, better yet, an external drive given the low storage capacity of the internal memory of only 8 GB. The IPS display is a touchscreen, so you can work without the help of these devices, but, considering the size and the vertical position of the monitor, work with the virtual keyboard is not recommended and a physical keyboard is required.
Technical features
The hardware features are of good quality: the processor is an NVIDIATegra T33 Quad Core 1.6 GHz supported by 2 GB of RAM. Are requirements that allow you to perform very well almost all traditional operations, such as surfing the Internet, write documents and watch a movie in streaming, perhaps taking advantage of the many Android app available in this particular area. Even with the games has proved challenging enough height, without presenting special jamming. From the point of view of connectivity, it lacks Bluetooth support but we find the RJ45 Ethernet port, and of course the Wi-Fi. A choice that would suggest a more professional, to facilitate connection to a corporate LAN, even if we can scarcely imagine a use for this device mode All-ln-One to the in-internal of an office. As family entertainment center performs well with regard to video. Ultimately it is an interesting device especially if you have to solve some specific problems family. Many of us use their laptop at home and at work, in the meantime, leaving the house without a computer. With the AOC mySmart the problem is solved with a low cost by adding the convenience of being able to connect your notebook to a 24-inch monitor. The discordant note is the version 4.2.2 of Android rather dated. Without claiming Lollipop, if he had KitKat would have been much more powerful as a computer from home.
