Sony still believes the market for portable MP3 players and announced at CES 2015 NW-ZX2, a new Walkman player with built-in Android. Supports codec FLAC and ALAC, has 128GB of internal memory, running Android 4.2, and a 4-inch screen. Costs as much: $ 1,200.
The Sony Walkman brand still exists, although its glory days are long gone. Once that smartphones have started doing more and more things, the MP3 player is disgraced. As the inventor of the audio handset, Sony has lost a lot from this market trend, but no waiver of novelty. And so at CES 2015 held in Las Vegas, Sony has unveiled its new NW-ZX2, a Walkman player with built-in Android.
Walkman NW-ZX2 is designed for audiophiles for excellence, those who love music in high quality. The player supports codec FLAC / ALAC (up to 96 kHz / 24-bit) and Bluetooth with SBC / LDAC hi-fidelity. The Wi-Fi Dual-band is available for playback DLNA also.
The player includes an internal memory of 128GB – not so huge considering only one album in FLAC is in the hundreds of megabytes. There’s a microSD card slot, if you run out of internal memory, but considering the price of the product the integrated memory could be greater.
In any case, the Sony Walkman NW-ZX2 running the Android operating system (4.2 Jelly Bean to be precise) and has a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. Given the difficulty in updating smartphones normal hard to think that Sony will update a music player to the latest versions of Android
How much is the player? Sony Walkman NW-ZX2 is offered for $ 1200, unfortunately without a pair of headphones in tribute.
Sony promises a range of 60 hours if you listen to MP3 at 128Kbps. If you want to use the player to listen to FLAC autonomy is estimated half of the hour, 33 hours.
We do not know if Sony intends to limit the Walkman NW-ZX2 the US market or if it will arrive in Europe.
