We had the chance to try the AOC A2472PW4T. We tell our impressions.

 Two worlds in one screen

AOC monitor has a dual use. On the one hand, this team can function as a traditional monitor with touch functionality, a tool very oriented computers that make up the Windows 8 operating system. This platform combines classic desktop interface very similar to the one we find in Windows 7 a main screen that dominate the icons and it even has its own app store.

In addition, the AOC A2472PW4T also includes in her womb the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. This platform Google has become the most commonly used mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, and is an excellent choice for us to see a movie, surf the net or watch the latest videos of kittens on YouTube. All this without connecting any external device, since the AOC A2472PW4T includes a quad-core processor with 1.6 GHz with a RAM of 2 GB . A rather remarkable set that will allow us to run smoothly the vast majority of apps and games for this system . Of course, keep in mind that this model takes a while to start up every time we change the way Android.

To store the personal, apps and games files this model has an internal memory of 8 GB. If we remove the space dedicated to the system and preinstalled applications, space to store our data remains at 5.1 GB.

 Sound and vision

The AOC A2472PW4T uses an IPS panel with a size of 23.6 inch full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. This is the typical resolution for this format. The use of IPS technology allows you to get a brighter image and above all a wide viewing angle of 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically. Speaking of brightness, the monitor from AOC reached the figure of 250 nits. We believe that this level of brightness is more than acceptable in normal use of the monitor, while recognizing that the glossy finish (glossy) instead of matte can sometimes be annoyed by the reflections of light. Anyway, most manufacturers today opt for this finish for consumer equipment to be more attractive.

Another detail that is noteworthy in this model is a good response time of 5 milliseconds, for example we notice when playing action games or races. Additionally, this computer has a static contrast ratio of 1000: 1 and a dynamic contrast ratio of 50,000,000: 1. Overall, we felt that the monitor does a good treatment for dark scenes (though without much fanfare). To enhance performance, we have two integrated speakers, but their quality is quite limited. More interesting us with an external audio system that enhances the multimedia experience.

 Design and connections

This Android monitor incorporates a rather elegant design, thanks to the combination of black color of your front with silver at the sides and rear pedestal (as seen in the picture above). This base can be tilted to almost sixty degrees, which enables us to place the monitor in the best position to view the contents or a steeper inclination to play apps or surfing the net. The full dimensions of the AOC A2472PW4T stood at 60.6 x 37.9 x 4.9 inches, with a weight of six kilos. This weight hinders transport something for the house but also facilitates having a more stable and difficult to pull design.

In the section of the connections, keep in mind that this is a model somewhere between a computer all in one and a classic monitor. So it is not surprising that AOC has reinforced this section with WiFi connectivity and an Ethernet port to browse through the network. We also have an HDMI and D-Sub port connections to connect two typical contents of a laptop (or ultrabook) and a traditional computer. Incidentally, the HDMI port can also function as an MHL port. This technology is used to directly connect a smartphone or tablet via cable and watch your live content, both multimedia files such as menus and my team. Of course, this function is not as vital to have Android on the monitor itself. What may prove very useful is its SD card slot, an option to expand the capacity of this team and have stored a large number of applications or movies.

Nor should we neglect the utility that can have two USB 2.0 ports, along with a third MicroUSB port. And we can connect a keyboard and a mouse and monitor to turn this into a real computer all in one with Android, to use office applications like Google Docs or productivity apps like Evernote. The connections are completed with an audio output and a slot for headphones. Finally, the AOC A2472PW4T incorporates a webcam with 1 megapixel quality video conferencing apps to use Skype or type Hangouts.

 Price and Review

We found the AOC A2472PW4T in the market for a price of approximately 400 euros. A very versatile for home users that mixes the basic functions of a monitor with the ability to use as a computer all in one Android device . Overall, this is a balanced model that works well both as a monitor as large format tablet operating system Google. A very interesting for users who want an SUV computer solution . Yes, if you want a first monitor is more advisable to go for another model of AOC.
