Qualcomm roadmap 2015: Snapdragon 820, 815, 629, 625, 620 and 616

Qualcomm roadmap 2015 Snapdragon 820, 815

Unveiled the supposed roadmap of new Snapdragon chipset that will be produced by Qualcomm in 2015; the most powerful of them, the Snapdragon 820 will come from the second half of the year; here are all the new chips.

For those who want to know if 2015 will be a year full of new and more powerful processors dedicated to mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets seems that will not be disappointed; from what we can read from a document that reveals roadmap for this year Qualcomm, the world’s leading manufacturer of chipsets for mobile terminals, it is clear that there will be many new and interesting.

The most important, the one dedicated to the band top of the range, is called Snapdragon 820 which will be available for sale in the second half of this year, although it is not specified whether immediately after the second half or for a slightly longer period.

The Snapdragon 820 chipset will become the new reference for the market of more demanding and will use again the Octa-core architecture, introduced with the Snapdragon 810 chipset, but will introduce new architectures; the first place, and all 8 cores, which will run simultaneously, will be the new models TS2 (clock speed not yet reported), and will be joined by a new GPU Adreno 530, there will be the encoding support 64bit (all new chipset in 2015 they will), will use the DDR4 and the chip, manufactured with 14nm production process in the establishments Samsung, will use a new modem MDM9X55 integrated inside compliant LTE 4G Cat 10.

Also in the second half of 2015 will be also introduced Snapdragon 815, also a Octa-Core but with big.LITTLE architecture consists of 4 core TS2 and 4 core TS1 (less efficient), combined with an Adreno 450 GPU, support DDR4 memory and same modem compatible LTE 4G Cat 10; this chip would be produced with the production process to 20nm and most likely will be dedicated to high-end / top of the line but a bit ‘cheaper.

Even the mid-range high for 2015 will be covered with new chipsets, all with modem compatible with LTE 4G Cat 10 connectivity and architecture Octa-core or quad-core.

The most expensive high-end media will be served by the Snapdragon 625 and 629, which both use an architecture octa-core processor type, however, not yet revealed, Adreno 418 GPU, support for DDR4 and production process to 20 nm.

A step below are the Snapdragon 620 which instead will use a quad-core architecture, with four processors (we do not know what kind though) operating at a frequency that varies from 2 to 2.5 Ghz clock, combined with an Adreno 418 GPU, but support for DDR3 memory slower than DDR4.

Finally there will be a small evolution of the Snapdragon 615 that could be replaced during 2015 by Snapdragon 616 that uses an architecture Octa-core processors with 8 CortexA53 operated at a frequency of 1.8 / 2.2 GHz Clock, combined with Adreno 408 GPU, support for DDR3 memory and LTE 4G Cat 6 connectivity up to 300 mB / s.

Given that all these statements have not been certified by Qualcomm take them as possible but not certain, given that until there are official information could change everything and not find more evidence in reality.
