TVs smart homes of the future will need a remote to match. In this context comes in NEEO, a new device developed by a startup that has been supported platform Kickstarter crowdfunding financial aid or to take it forward. The developer is based in Cupertino, and the core team consists of people who have worked over 25 years in the electronics sector aimed at home. In fact, its CEO, Raphael Oberholzer, is an electronic engineer with experience in Bang & Olufsen and Smart Home SA.
NEEO is a device that includes a remote control and a brain that is able to centralize control of home. Including your home theater equipment and connected devices. Including the Nest, a famous smart thermostat can save energy and money or Philips Hue, a basic kit that includes everything you need to start coloring our lives and control lighting from the Internet or an iOS device. But really, the main novelty, and what is striking is that NEEO is able to recognize our hand. That means that the device can identify if it gets owns the house or guest, and thus not give access to the same content. This makes it especially interesting if there are children in the house. In addition, you can program NEEO communication with mobile devices, so that through an application we are alerted that are being used household devices.
Another of its strengths is its battery, which can remain active for several months without charge. It offers a wide range of connectivity: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 6LoWPAN, ZigBee, Z-Wave and infrared, with a field of action of 360 degrees in order to be as comfortable as possible for the user. Considering the design, NEEO creators wanted to preserve the layout of a traditional remote. And if we look at the images at the bottom features the classic wheel buttons with which we can handle different functions and equipment. The upper part is occupied by a small 3.2 inch screen, which achieves an attractive 291ppp density.
This project, for which about $ 148 requested in Kickstarter, could be available in April, and we show that the Internet of Things is not a passenger or to make a joke phenomenon. Although moving slowly (the proof is that most technology we have been taught at CES in Las Vegas this year is almost the same as in 2014), its rhythm seems unstoppable and secure. According to Gartner predicts, 4.900 million connected devices will be running this year, 30% more than in 2014. Gartner also dares to venture that will reach 25,000 million in 2020.
