Fujifilm today announces three new compact, among which stands out of the “professional” XQ2. Pocket (100x59x33mm), refined in style but in the advanced features offered, the XQ2 follows just over a year after the founder XQ1 (announced in October of 2013), mainly by updating the internal electronics.
As for the sensor has been retained the proven formula of CMOS X-Trans 2/3 “and 12 Mpixel, which equips even the top model X30, the X30 has been borrowed also the EXR II image processor, which doubles the available computing power than the first model.
The vast computing power is used to manage the hybrid AF system, which according to Fujifilm is the world’s fastest (focus in 0.06 seconds, 0.3 seconds interval between consecutive shots), and in general to ensure maximum reactivity to a model already very fast for its category. An algorithm, after the scene analysis, decides whether to use the focus-contrast or phase detection, automatically selects a maximum of nine areas and recognizes faces. So it seems that wrong focus is impossible…
Part of computing power is also used by the function LMO, or Lens Modulation Optimizer, which based on the concepts of signal processing improves image quality and detail rendering.
Is not used, instead, to expand the range ISO, which remains between 100 and 12,800, as for the previous model .
It seems lens XQ2 in the same pattern as in the previous, in turn derived from XF1: Fujinon 6.4-25.6mm f / 1.8-4.9, equivalent to 25-100mm, built including four a spherical elements and three low dispersion. It’s mostly good news, given that the XQ1 has proven to be very sharp in the center, to “hold” rather well at the edges and ensure good contrast, suffering a bit ‘only in terms of chromatic aberration. Its generous maximum aperture f / 1.8 but collapses rapidly with increasing focal, until you get to a far less flattering f / 4.9 .
The camera body with essential design is very clean but effective, thanks to the idea of E-Fn button, equivalent to Shift keyboard, which doubles the functions of the few physical controls available, and the front ring multifunction.
The display remained 3-inch, 920,000-dot. There is also a module integrated Wi-Fi and classic creative options Fuji: creative filters and film simulation, among which was added the new “Classic Chrome” which debuted recently on mirrorless Series X. The XQ1 will be available from March 2015 to just less than 380 euros.
Presented simultaneously also the “rugged” XP80, which allows you to bring her around 16 megapixel CMOS sensor (1 / 2.3 “) and its 5x zoom from 28mm up to 15 feet underwater, and the bridge FinePix S9800, usually slight facelift annual superzoom models that, in front of a sensor always from about 16 Mpixels and always in size 1 / 2.3 “, it shows a 50x zoom equivalent to 24-1200mm f / 2.9-6.5.
These two models will be available from March. The XP80 priced at around 200 Euro, the S9800 to just less than 300 Euro.
