Panasonic has just introduced one of the most peculiar tablets that can be found on the market. Panasonic Toughpad FZ-R1 is an All in One tablet – Mobile POS with Windows operating system. As such, can be used as a tablet in a conventional manner, with a typical use of the Microsoft platform, or conversely (and which is specially designed) can be used to collect and / or pay for products over the different channels implemented.
Coincidentally, in yesterday we told you about another of the tablets of the Japanese company, Panasonic Toughpad FZ-M1 that we highlighted among the best alternative water resistant models. On this day, we again have a Toughpad protagonist, again with an unusual characteristic that distinguishes much of the rest, and it seems that the strategy of Panasonic is this, the needs of small and specific groups.
The Toughpad FZ-R1 no doubt his particular niche market is retailer’s shops or similar small businesses. Why? Panasonic has provided it with support for all types of electronic payments, including support EMV, could not miss the NFC connectivity, magnetic card reader and a flashy keypad to enter a PIN that quite affects the overall aesthetics of the device.
In terms of specifications, we find nothing very outstanding. It has a 7 inch screen with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, an Intel Celerom N2807 processor working at 1.58 GHz, 2 or 4 GB of RAM to choose at the time of purchase, 64 GB of internal storage expandable other 64 GB additional via microSD cards, rear 5 megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth and USB 3.0 connectivity and optional LTE as we said Windows 8.1.
It will be available by mid-year, with spring coming to an end. The price is not your forte, although it is understood that it is a pretty versatile for those who will give tool use as POS (Point Of Sale). The basic version will cost $ 1,799 in the US, although we have clearly reached Europe and what his price when doing so.
