Sharp Aquos Crystal presented with extremely thin frame

With the Sharp Aquos Crystal, the Japanese company today announced a total of two new smartphones with 5 and 5.5-inch displays that come in basic, almost without visible frame on the sides and the top. Interestingly, the Sharp Aquos Crystal this time but has been designed not only for the Japanese provider Softbank, but also the U.S. provider Sprint. This could be a sign that the selling slowly but surely but could still take place around the world.

 As mentioned, there are basically two models do not differ much by design, but technically still enormous. The Sharp Aquos Crystal has a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Is driven by this Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 1.5 GB RAMS and is 8 GB of internal memory. The memory can be expanded up to 128 GB. On the back there is an 8MP camera, while a 1.2-MP camera has been installed at the front. There are LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and Android 4.4.2 operating system as KitKat. Waterproof smartphone this is not, with its dimensions of 131 x 67 x 10 mm but very compact. The weight is 140 grams. Despite 5-inch large screen smartphone should so act only as a 4.5-inch device.  The Sharp Aquos Crystal X is with 5.5 inch large display failed not only slightly larger, but also much better equipped technically. Thus, the screen dissolves with 1920 x 1080 pixels on; there is an 801 Snapdragon processor, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory directly, which you may additionally extend to 128 GB. In that case there is also directly Android 4.4.4 KitKat as the operating system and a 13.1-MP camera on the back. The dimensions will be 139 x 73 x 11 mm. The weight is not mentioned on the product page.

In any case, the Sharp Aquos Crystal looks really very compact, although the area is very thick below the display. Thus, the on-screen buttons can but maybe a little more comfortable reach. The smaller Aquos Crystal will be available, while the Aquos Crystal X should follow in December from the end of August – but initially only in Japan and the United States.
