The next Nexus 5 will be from LG and will have 3D camera and sensor for fingerprints

The rumors around the upcoming Nexus 5 do not come very often, but they are becoming more and more interesting. The South Korean media have reported that the Nexus 5 is about to be reborn with a 3D camera module. Of course, the information comes from a Nexus 5 of LG “sample”, which means that the definitive device might not even have this peculiarity.

The report also does not explain in detail what is meant by “3D camera”, but probably it is a dual-camera configuration with improved sensors of infrared light to allow operation even in the dark. It seems to be the same kind of technology used by smartphone Amazon Fire, only that there would be two objectives rather than four.

Probably Google by partnering with LG would like to bring some new technology developed in Project Tango already on his next Nexus 5. Project Tango allows smartphone and tablet to outline the 3D model of the surrounding environment to the user via a camera depth, a motion tracking, a RGB, and a series of sensors.

We remind you that LG has already experienced in 2011 technology with dual camera smartphone Optimus 3D and therefore could be helpful to the Mountain View company. Finally, the report states that the new Nexus smartphone from LG will be introduced in October, with Android M pre-installed. Another feature mentioned is the fingerprint scanner, which, as we all know, will be supported natively by Android M.
