Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 - clone Highway Pure by Wiko?

Today, Micromax has unveiled its latest smartphone, the Highway Pu … uh, no, the Canvas Sliver 5. Confusion is nevertheless easy: it is the same smartphone: specs, chassis, everything is identical. Really everything? Not exactly…

Who copied whom? Is Tinno, the Chinese manufacturer hiding behind the French branding Wiko? Where Micromax, the Indian brand bulimic? Whatever the answer, the result is the same: they both offer the same mobile. The Highway Pure 4G one side. And on the other, the Canvas Sliver 5, formalized today during a press conference in India. By coincidence, today is that Wiko sent us a test unit of its smartphone to extreme finesse…

Let the data sheet from the beginning. The Canvas Sliver 5 is a mobile whose main feature is its thinness: 5.1mm thick all inclusive. It is also very light: 97 grams. Micromax says it is the first mobile 4G to go under the 100 gram bar. The metal frame is reinforced on the corners with plastic. The 4.8 inches AMOLED displays an image in 720p and is protected by a glass slab reinforced Corning Gorilla 3.

To animate this screen, the Sliver 5 is based on the quad-core Snapdragon 410 chipset from Qualcomm, which is compatible LTE Category 4, and 2 GB of RAM. To save application, video and photo, the notebook has 16GB of expandable storage not. The battery is rated at 2000 mAh. The audio chipset is signed NXP. And connectivity includes WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.

Picture side, the smartphone has a Sony 8-megapixel main sensor compatible 1080p video at 30 frames per second. The webcam displays a resolution of 5 megapixels. The application that controls these components provides control over certain elements, such as sensitivity, white balance or exposure compensation and flicker (when you take a picture screen). These are exactly the same options as in the Highway Pure. The icons of the “Face Beauty” mode are identical …

One difference though with the Highway Pure: it comes with a ROM based on KitKat, while the Canvas Sliver 5 already has Lollipop. This could be related to the fact that Wiko offers since the beginning of the year an overcoat home. Available in India starting next month, the Canvas Sliver 5 will be priced at 17,999 rupees. Or 250 euros. In France, the Highway Pure is sold at 300 euros. The difference is not extravagant. So a good effort from Wiko…
