Elephone P9000 - first smartphone with processor Helio X20 planned for October

Elephone just announced that its future P9000 will integrate deca-core MediaTek, the Helio X20. It now seems to be first on the list of compatible smartphones, but could not be by its planned launch in October.

There is a month and a half; MediaTek chipset unveiled the first application with ten hearts. Four are Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.4 GHz. Four others are also Cortex-A53 but 2GHz. And the last two are the Cortex-A72 clocked up to 2.5 GHz. Three groups for three different uses, knowing that the two Cortex-A72 are clearly very powerful hearts, capable of competing with four cores Cortex-A57. Helio X20 is therefore a more adaptive solution and may be as powerful as the Snapdragon 810 (on the purely application part). It remains to demonstrate in a smartphone.

Today, there are no equipped smartphone, which is logical since the chipset is still recent. And we did not know how long to wait before seeing the first model powered by this powerful chipset. So far: the Chinese manufacturer Elephone just put online the page dedicated his next P9000, a smartphone whose greatest singularity is to adopt the X20. For the rest, the announced spec is clearly premium, but not dazzling than that.

First, the IPS screen measures 5.5 inches and displays an image in Full HD, QHD and not, as we might have expected a phone under X20. The chipset is the MT6797, but it seems to be clocked at 2 GHz, which is the operating speed of the quad core Cortex-A53 fastest. The GPU is not filled. He’s just shown a quad-core ARM Mali T800 of generation (the one that will be used in Samsung’s Exynos). The graphics chipset is clocked at 700 MHz.

To accompany all this, we find 4 GB of RAM (finally one digit at a height of X20), 32GB of internal storage (expandable by microSDXC), a removable battery 3100 mAh sensors and two image, 20.7 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel on the front. The range of connectivity is complete: Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi ac dual-band, GPS, NFC, FM radio and LTE quadriband. Two micro-SIM ports are also present.

The set will be animated by Android 5.1 Lollipop and confined in a chassis measuring 8 mm thick and weighing 150 grams. The mobile is available in black and white. The target price is 500 dollars, 440 euros. It will be marketed in China on 20 October. First model announced in X20, the Elephone P9000 to be there however the first commercialized? Asian competition should indeed not immediately react. And by October, the race in first smartphone with MediaTek deca-core on the shelves of specialty stores will be in full swing.
