The race has just begun modular phones

The race has just begun modular phones

Project Ara appears to have been only the beginning of a new race among manufacturers of mobile phones. In a market that increasingly seems to be closer to reaching a saturation point -the technical specifications are no longer attractive enough to make the difference between a manufacturer and other-the idea of modular phones (or mobile pieces) seems be an inevitable stop for that, sooner or later, will eventually get the train from the major manufacturers in the market of smartphones.

First, before discussing the current landscape of mobile modular, it is interesting to know what really these phones are and, most importantly, involve what differences compared to conventional smartphones. Modular phones are composed of removable parts that the user can be removed at any time to replace them technically better parts. This means that, with modular mobile, the user acquires a smartphone that you can customize at any time by replacing components such as the RAM, processor, camera or screen, buying all the parts through in much the same Google Play store.

Once put in situations, know how the market is currently the modular phones. The reference in regards to mobile pieces is the American company Google, as it is responsible for funding research that is making a US company with Project Ara. And Project Ara, if all goes as planned, will be the first modular smartphone market. The draft Project Ara is relatively advanced and there is only one video where you can see this phone in action, but also it seems that the upcoming January 14, 2015 will be officially presented a completely real and functional prototype Google mobile modular.

Beyond Google, it also seems that more and more companies are beginning to see the true potential of mobile technology completely customizable by the user. One of the latest to jump on the bandwagon of mobile modular has been a company called Vsenn. In it is likely that this name will not be familiar to anyone, but … what if we consider that one of its founders is a former senior Nokia X, the proposed hybrid Nokia phones with small touches of Android OS?

On the modular mobile Vsenn little is known beyond that size will 124 x 63 x 8.9 mm and incorporates a 4.7 inch screen with 1,080 pixels resolution. It is also assumed that the operating system installed in this handset series correspond to Android.

These two companies also have to add some other major manufacturer, under the shadow of the highest secrecy, probably already has begun studying how the impact of the arrival of modular mobile market mobile phones would. At the end of the day, companies like Samsung, Sony or HTC would be interested in following the first in this market by offering interchangeable pieces for modular phones.

In short, today know little or nothing firm about the future of smartphones, but one thing is clear … the mobile modular race has just begun.
