Today nobody can not surprise smartphone with Quad HD-display , and, apparently, in the next year we will be able to see mobile devices with 4K-resolution.
Last week it was reported that Samsung plans to equip the fifth generation “tablet phone» Galaxy Note display resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels with a density of 747 ppi. South Korean vendor will be decided whether such a step is not known, since the practical need for such a screen is not.
Meanwhile, Sharp has already demonstrated a similar product. According to the Nikkei Technology, the Japanese company has developed a panel with a pixel density of 736 ppi. IGZO-diagonal display is only 4.1 inches, but the resolution in this case – 2560 × 1600 pixels. According to Sharp, the concentration of the points shown in the panel is the same as if the 6-inch 4K-resolution was 3840 × 2160.
It is reported that Sharp intends to start mass production of such screens in 2016. However, exactly what the device will be equipped with such panels is unclear. Still today a diagonal of 4.1 inches is small enough for high-end devices. And in the future the situation may be even “worse”.
The first engineering samples of new items will be available to manufacturers of mobile devices in 2015.
Meanwhile, it is known that Sharp is working on a 5.5-inch display with IGZO-4K-resolution – 4096 × 2160 pixel density of this panel will be 842 ppi.
