Fast charging has great potential due to the stagnation of the batteries and the steady increase in their capacity, but no less interesting is the possibility to charge the device without connecting to the power supply. The company Freescale decided that such an approach is necessary to implement and wireless charging.
Freescale has introduced a new technology of wireless charging, which will charge the smartphone three times faster than the existing counterparts. The technology exploits the identical ideas as wired solutions, for example, Quick Charge 2.0 from Qualcomm in the Nexus 6 or VOOC Charging in OPPO N3 and R5, – allows you to output 15 watts instead of the usual 5, both in the prevalence of wireless charging standard among mobile Qi .
To get faster charging, need the support of the relevant equipment in the smartphone and the new pad. Sami details will be available in the first quarter of 2015. Support for backward compatibility with Qi does not provide “out of the box”, but the manufacturer assures that it is very easy to configure.
Backwards compatibility is important, primarily due to the fact that the table does not need to keep several different contact pads for the devices. 15 Watt also, in theory, allows charging plate’s capacious battery relatively quickly, which promises bright prospects for new development.
Since Freescale is a manufacturer of components, to talk about the widespread dissemination of this decision is difficult, because the producers need to invest additional funds in the acquisition of new chips. On the other hand, many manufacturers can begin to use this technology as a competitive advantage, since the cores and resolution to lure new customers is becoming increasingly difficult.
Perhaps we can see the first commercial smartphones with faster wireless charging in the second half of 2015.
