Samsung SSD 850 EVO, fast and reliable card memory up to 1 TB

Samsung SSD 850 EVO card memory

SSDs are storage format (increasingly near) future. A format faster and more reliable than traditional hard disk memory, but so far have greatly limited their use in tablets and ultrabooks due to the cost of this technology. However, the price difference is reduced increasingly more. The new Samsung SSD 850 EVO cards are designed for the field of consumption and achieve good speeds of up to 540 MB / s read and up to 520 MB / s in writing. All with a size ranging between 120 GB and 1 TB, a capacity that is starting to get very close to hard drives. We tell you all the details on this series of SDD cards.

The new Samsung SSD 850 EVO is designed for domestic environments, both as ultrabooks tablets or desktop computers. To meet the specific needs of each user 850 EVO models have capacities between 120 GB and 1 TB (a size and equals much too hard drives). Between these two configurations capabilities also have 250 GB and 500 GB. The South Korean company uses technology 3-bit 3D V-NAND. This technology involves using the space in which cells more effectively distributed so that a higher density and lower power consumption through the use of 32 vertical layers (rather than horizontal alignment) is achieved.

In addition, Samsung has also improved the performance of these cards. The Samsung SSD 850 EVO achieves very high speeds of up to 540 MB / s sequential read and 520 MB / s in sequential write. The difference from previous models is even greater in the field of random write; with a rate almost doubles the previous generation model 120 GB. Specifically, this drive is capable of reaching speeds of 88,000 IOPS, the same as the configuration of 250 GB (except in this case the difference from the previous generation is 25% more). These figures rise to 90,000 IOPS random write configurations 500 GB and 1 TB.

As for the sequential read speed, it is in the 98000 IOPS both settings 1TB and 500GB configuration. This low speed slightly to 97,000 IOPS in the case of 250GB model, while the 120 GB configuration we will stay in 94,000 IOPS. The company also wanted to highlight the reliability of these models. For the 1TB model, we can get to work with 80 GB of data diaries written over five years, a remarkable and superior reliability that we offer today’s hard drives.

As expected, these discs have a very compact and lightweight format of just 66 grams in 1 TB drive, and a maximum consumption stands at 4,4W. Currently there are no specific data on the departure and the prices of the new Samsung SSD 850 EVO.
