No doubt we are in the “era of mobility” with more and more devices designed to carry (or made, such as “wearables”), and where the main problem is undoubtedly the battery life of these devices, so that the use of external batteries is almost agenda. In Ampy have had a brilliant idea: create a portable battery that recharges while walking.
The developers of this laptop battery define it as a “wearable” device, although it seems quite exaggerated and even pretentious indeed. In any case, it is intended to take with us, especially in the pocket battery, since it is able to recharge its internal battery via the motion, capturing the kinetic energy when walking (or shake) and being able to store in its for later use inside.
According to the developers, Ampy is able to offer three hours of autonomy to a normal smartphone walking 10,000 steps (mean we do daily), cycling for an hour or running for 30 minutes. Not that much, but it’s pretty much what they offer conventional external batteries, and indeed the idea is pretty cool in essence, although implementation is still evidently a little polishing.
Note that Ampy began, of course, with a Kickstarter campaign, which was a great success and managed to triple the proposed creation goal. They are now preparing to launch, and calculated to hit the market in mid-2015. Its starting price is $ 95, a bit expensive, really.
