Microsoft has presented a Wireless Display Adapter for viewing online content

Wireless Display Adapter

Chromecast, the USB key that allows you to view online videos mobile or tablet on your TV, was a bestseller. So have not been few companies wanted to join the party and presented in recent months their own HDMI dongles. The latest firm to make one of these devices has been Microsoft, which has launched its Wireless Display Adapter.

Its main objective is to project on the screen of television content from a computer, laptop or smartphone (or projector, as Microsoft is manufacturing new models of these devices for the business sector). The terminal operates with free Miracast, a type of protocol that allows sharing files wirelessly connections formed by Wi-Fi Direct, similar to what happens with Bluetooth.

This technology is present in Terminal Windows and Windows 8.1, but also incorporates many computers and Android devices. Since Microsoft warn that if our tv does not support Miracast, we use an extra device for the dongle to work.

The advantages of using this technology are many. You will not need that each individual application is updated for compatibility with this system, as in Chromecast. Just suffice that the device from which it is issued has Miracast. This allows the user to play all you are watching on the screen while the device Google can only transfer certain types of content.

For that reason, Microsoft highlighted the fact that, as the device uses the Miracast technology “will not be limited to certain applications or content, it will display anything from your terminal.” As a disadvantage, the design of the apparatus is not as elegant as that of Google.

Operation begins by connecting the gadget to the TV’s HDMI port. This part seems fixed and immovable, so it may be a little more uncomfortable than the gadget company’s Mountain View. You also have to connect the USB end to a power source, but can also be left open.

Apparently the new accessory Wireless Display Adapter of Redmond is much simpler to use than the Chromecast shirt. In addition, the Microsoft does not need WiFi connection. The user can also decide what kind of things you want to display on the screen allowing users to continue using the original terminal from being broadcast signal.

However, the peripheral has a considerably higher price than Google as it will go on sale from October for $ 60 (about 47 euros) in the United States and Canada, while the Chromecast worth 35 euros. Anyways, we have to see how the public reacts to the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter and if he takes a piece of cake to Google.
