Android smartphone Lenovo VIBE X2 review

Lenovo VIBE X2

Just two weeks ago at the IFA consumer electronics show in 2014, Lenovo unveils new smartphone VIBE X2. Compared with its predecessor, the new acquired Bole interesting look and significantly increased performance metrics. Unfortunately, the smartphone came to us for a couple of days, so we’ll just about first impressions.

 Design and usability

As it was said at the presentation , VIBE X2 – the world’s first multi-layer smart phone, which is well seen in the case outlining. To emphasize this, each of the four colors formed in a bright gradient palette therefore able to select the appropriate color each. To us a review got red and gold options, which differ not only in color, but more on that later.

Obverse smartphone fully covered protective glass, in the upper part of which is the voice speaker, front camera 5 megapixel, LED notifications, light sensors and proximity. Under the screen there are hardware touch keys illuminated.

On the right side is the volume rocker and power button on the left – the SIM-card. In the European version of the smartphone in the slot there is a unit under one SIM-card format microSIM, but there is another version of the device – in the same slot located compartment nanoSIM-card.

The top of the smartphone is just 3.5 mm audio jack, and the bottom – the microUSB port and the main microphone.

Covers the back side of the plastic cover, it is not removable, so replace the battery 2300 mAh at home will not work. In the upper left-hand corner are 13-megapixel camera lens, LED flash and a microphone. By the very cent placed the manufacturer’s logo, and below – multimedia speaker and terminals for connection of additional accessories.

Together with the smartphone VIBE X2 were presented two accessories to it – it’s VIBE Xtension: Battery Xtension and Hi-Fi Xtension. With the first, you can significantly extend the battery life of the smartphone, and the second from the device will make a real multimedia center.

In terms of ease of use of the smartphone proved to be very good. Due to the rather small size, as for the 5-inch smartphone, it is quite possible to use one hand. In addition, with a weight of just 120 grams, it seems very easy.

Mechanical keys are tight, but easily noticeable progress, which is very convenient, and their arrangement on the whole correct. If the right hands to hold the device, the buttons are located just below the thumb.

 Screen

Contrary to the latest trends in the smartphone set 5-inch IPS screen with a resolution of Full HD, but the pixel density of 441 ppi.

The subjective impressions of the screen are very good. The colors look warm, but without excess. Brightness enough for the job , both in the dark and in bright sunlight. The display is built on technology without the use of the air gap, so viewing angles are almost the maximum.

If, however, a user has a claim to the color or brightness of the screen, the smartphone allows you to adjust the screen, thanks to the additional options. Present as preset modes and manual, in which you can adjust the tone from cold to warm, and the saturation of pastel to bright.

 Operating system and sheath

VIBE X2 running the operating system Android 4.4.2 . As the shell is used Lenovo Launcher v6.

The entire interface consists of desktops, which may be widgets, shortcuts or folders with the programs. In this version of the shell, you can change the lock screen wallpaper with a gesture from right to left. To change the wallpaper is enough to make a gesture reminiscent of flipping through pages of the left or right corner of the display. Otherwise, the shell is made qualitatively and will please a lot of settings.

 Hardware Platform

During the presentation of the device has been said that it is based on an 8-core processor company MediaTek. VIBE X2 one of the first smartphone that runs on the CPU MediaTek MT-6595m with a maximum frequency of 2 GHz. The processor has 4 cores and 4 Cortex A17 core Cortex A7. The main difference from other chip companies is to support the standard LTE. In the role playing video accelerator PowerVR G600 . The RAM is 2 GB, and the volume of the built-in storage – 32 GB expandability without using memory cards.

In synthetic benchmarks the performance of the device is at a very high level. MediaTek MT-6595m can compete with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (8974AC) on an equal footing. On such a device, you can easily run demanding modern games without fear of sinking FPS and it’s a given that the device came to the test, working on one of the first firmware.

Yet it is worth remembering that during high load smart enough to significantly heated and runs down quickly, but as mentioned above, the device obtained in the test, it’s only one of the first examples, and a commercial version may be all in a different way.
