Acer Liquid Jade review

Acer Liquid Jade

The Acer Liquid Jade is a renewed commitment from Acer. A smartphone that features a five-inch size playing cards with a very slim design, a rounded forms that provide a retro feel and a good set of front and rear cameras. Furthermore, we find inside the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. All with a very competitive price of 240 euros, this will bring many pockets. We had the chance to thoroughly test this smartphone. Here are our impressions.

Acer Liquid Jade

 A step forward in design

Not that the previous smartphones from Acer had a bad design, but the truth is that sometimes was missing a distinctive touch that made us choose this phone from the rest of the store. And the Acer Liquid Jade does. This smartphone with a size of five inches bet a very thin design and a rounded shape that attract much attention, both in the corners and on the back cover that lightly curve. The version that we have tested has the back in white, but you can also get green or pink. Covers are attached to the rest of the model and cannot be opened. Finally, a detail that we would like to highlight is the rear camera; the lens protrudes significantly and raises the top of the smartphone when placed on a flat surface. In general, goes well with the overall design and also allows the sound from the speaker (located at the bottom of the housing) is not much when we weaken the terminal on a table or desk.

The full dimensions of the Acer Liquid Jade totaled 140.5 x 69 x 7.5 mm, while its weight is around 110 grams very competitive. As for the screen, the Liquid Jade uses IPS panel a size of 5 inches. This technology allows achieving good viewing angles of 178 degrees both vertically and horizontally. However, the most interesting panel news is Acer’s proprietary technology Zero Air Gap, which eliminates the space between the touch panel and the glass that covers it, so reflections are reduced when using the phone in the street. As for the response and the brightness level, both offer pretty good performance. Where did we notice some more limitation on the leading models of the market is in the vividness of colors. This panel has a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels, which gives a good density of 294 ppi.

 Good cameras

The Acer Liquid Jade picks up the bill for good Taiwanese company in their cameras to smartphones, although it seems that it is slightly below previous models like the Acer Liquid E3. In the back we have a target of 13 megapixels with LED flash and autofocus. The quality of the photos is usually pretty decent, although without reaching levels of excellence. This lens also features the ability to record video in high quality 1080p. Although the front camera has a resolution of 2 megapixels humble, it seemed to us that its performance is better than might be expected at first and can take selfies quality or record video with 720p quality. Another aspect that we would like to highlight is the camera interface, with a fairly quick access to zoom or taking panoramic photos.

Acer Liquid Jade

 The latest in Android

Good news that brings this smartphone is the inclusion of Android 4.4 KitKat, the latest version of this popular operating system that has become the great ruler of mobile devices. This platform has a very broad universe of applications. In addition, Acer wanted to contribute to the experience of Jade with some additions themselves. For example, we have a custom lock screen with quick access to the camera, calls, messages or browser. He also liked a lot LiveScreen®, an application that allows us to share notes, photos or even positions in the Google Maps with other contacts in real time.

Productivity is enhanced through Acer Extend. This application is used to convey the contents of the screen smartphone Acer directly to a computer via USB or WiFi. Acer SnapNote O , which is able to detect the images being displayed through the camera and save them differently. All this combined with the online storage service you provide Acer access our files from anywhere with network connectivity. Finally, we have an application that creates a home screen easier and more accessible through the use of large icons of the tools that we consider most important. Undoubtedly, it is very pleasant surprises that enhance the use of the smartphone, and can get to go unnoticed at first.

Acer Liquid Jade

 Power and memory

In the field of storage the Acer Liquid Jade uses an internal memory of 8 GB. If we remove the space used for the system and preinstalled applications, that leaves us with just over 5 GB to store our files. This is an amount that can be rather short. In this case, you can draw on a Micro SD card up to 32 GB. On the other hand, in the field of processor it has included a quad-core chip with a power of 1.3 GHz, with a RAM of 1 GB. Usually, this is a sufficient set, although it is true that there may be some short in heavier applications or when having many open processes.

Acer Liquid Jade

 Connectivity and multimedia

In the field of connections, one of the main attractions of Jade is the ability to use two SIM cards Nano while. In this way, we can bring in one terminal our private line and our line of work. This phone connects to 3G networks (here you can throw in lack support 4G networks) and also via WiFi. The connections are completed with Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS to navigate through applications like Google Maps or Waze. In the media field with speaker stands DTS Sound which offers good audio quality and power. Yes, the Jade has left the impression that Acer has used a less powerful than in previous releases (always in a good overall performance) speaker.

Acer Liquid Jade

 Autonomy, prices and reviews

The Acer Liquid Jade uses a battery of 2,100 milliamps. Although the company has not revealed official data on the time of use, in our tests we have found a reliable smartphone that overcomes the barrier smoothly the day of use without recharging equipment. The Acer Liquid Jade is available in stores for a price of 230 euros. In short , a device that represents a significant leap in terms of design and appeal. The Taiwanese company has achieved a very thin smartphone just 7.5 millimeters that will turn heads in any store. Its specifications that stand out are his good set of cameras and the ability to use two SIM cards Nano at the same time, besides the good set of Acer’s own apps.
