Smartphones have 1 TB memory in 5 years

Can you imagine bringing movies, TV series, all your photos and music on your smartphone? Five years, that’s the term that experts estimate the Rice University to start seeing smartphones with capabilities much higher storage than we know so far, up to 1 TB say. research team of this university located in Houston (Texas, USA) have discovered a new system that could get much larger memories to insert into mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and memory cards . Currently there are parts of the process that cannot be done with current technology or do not allow mass production, so the discovery was not yet implemented, but say there are already several manufacturers interested in registering the invention to get to work.

The research team at Rice University has created a resistive RAM that has been used in the silicon oxide, which is one of the main components of the sand. This material also could be the key to creating batteries that offer a much longer range, and is being studied by scientists at the University of California. This material gets memories with lower power consumption and much more density, so that would be more capacity in less space. Silicon oxide also would end the problem of overheating, resulting in better performance. This system would replace the current flash memories and have the size of an approximate postage stamp, but with 1 terabyte of memory inside, said soon. As mentioned, there are already several companies that would have been interested in the project, so they could start soon experimenting with various methods of manufacture.

Currently the phones with more storage memory have 64 Gb, while some tablets have made the jump to 128 Gb’re talking about pretty high numbers, but fall quite short when compared to what we can find in virtually any computer. With reports that this new system promises we could carry an enormous amount of data, as we do in our computer. Imagine not having to copy a particular movie because you take up your entire collection. Mobile devices allow expansion cards MicroSD, who also go by the 128 Gb -although not all models support units such capacity, but normal is 32 or 64 Gb To get an idea of what you might assume this invention, 1 TB corresponds to 1.024 Gb, which is 16 times more than what it offers us a smartphone with 64 GB capacity and 64 times more than a 16 GB smartphone will have to wait to see this system come true and we cross the pass fingers that also take advantage of the silicon oxide to improve battery life.
