Bolt, the application Instagram to compete with Snapchat

After accidentally appeared for some users of Android, the Bolt is now official. Released late on Tuesday (29), the application is the best of Instagram to compete with Snapchat lets you send photos and videos to self-destruct so the recipients slide your finger over the screen. For now, the novelty is only available for users in New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa

The Bolt has versions for operating systems to Android and iOS, but is accessible only in the three countries mentioned above. According to the websites TechCrunch and The Verge, Facebook (owner of Instagram) states have chosen initially because these places are places where the photos app is quite popular, besides the fact that they are accustomed to the tool native language, English. Thus, the company can perform some tests before the global launch, which still does not have a set date.

“We go to other regions soon, but we are starting in some countries to ensure that we can scale the experience [globally]. 65% of all Instagram users are outside the United States, then an international release, although different it is not out of our plans, “a spokesman said social network. The company also clarified that the app has a different proposal and therefore will not cause conflict with the Slingshot, similar feature on Facebook itself launched just over a month.

When Bolt is released for all users, will not need to subscribe to e-mail and password and link your Facebook or Instagram account to begin using it. According to the company, the application can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, work independently and will require just your phone number, as well as in other apps, like Snapchat, Slingshot and WhatsApp.

Soon to open Bolt, the app will display a camera to take a picture or record a video on the fly, since the tool will not allow submission of an existing file in the gallery of images from your smartphone. From there it is just touching the image of your friend’s profile to send a photo or keep the same image down to forward a video. If you want to cancel sending that image or clip, just shake your gadget to undo the action after a few seconds.

All content captured through the app can be saved to your phone, and is only allowed to send a picture or video to a person at a time – other than the Slingshot, which offers the possibility of sending the same content to more than one user. When the recipient receives a new image, it will have the option to simply delete it or to respond by sending a picture or text message. If the user does not open the content received within 30 days, the file is deleted from the Instagram servers.

Although Slingshot has not caused much impact in a market dominated by Snapchat makes sense Instagram launch a competitor for this type of audience. When the app won the video recording feature – a response to the Vine, Twitter – did not take long for the tool to become as popular as his main rival in this regard. Moreover, even though the most used app of photos in the world, with 60 million images uploaded every day, Instagram is far behind Snapchat, reaching almost half a billion messages daily.
