Lenovo plans further small Windows Tablets

Lenovo has claimed responsibility for small-sized tablet with Windows operating system. With this opinion, it responded to irritation after the sale of an 8-inch model in North America had set.

After the model Miix was sold off, the company stopped the distribution of the Thinkpad 8 in the States. There is not sufficient demand from home users, it was against PCWorld. “We see the Windows field more interested in the larger tablet formats.” Thus Lenovo United States currently has no small Windows Tablets longer available.

As a result, Lenovo was forced to a clarification. Media reports of a final withdrawal from “the Small-Screen Windows tablet business” were false. In Germany about the Thinkpad 8 is way more easily with prices starting at about 400 euros available (depending on configuration). The Miix 2 8 can also be found even in online shops. Due to the spartan features an Atom processor around it only costs around 180 euros.

The temporary withdrawal of Lenovo collided last week ugly with Microsoft’s announcement that Windows 8 to manufacturers of tablets with 9 inches and less available free of charge to make. Despite the popularity of small tablets with Android and the iPad Mini is Microsoft has not been able to gain a foothold in this segment.

Recently went to a User’s Guide that Microsoft itself actually even planned a Model Surface Mini had. The ARM -based Microsoft Tablet was the presentation of the Surface been expected Pro 3 on May 20. For testing purposes, Microsoft should already have produced a number of copies. But reportedly CEO Satya Nadella decided at the last minute, however, it along with the 12-inch Surface Pro 3 to present.

In the region of small tablets of the contest will run mostly on price. So actually it fits into Microsoft’s strategy to increase the proliferation of Windows by cheap devices – about even with inexpensive notebooks that can compete with Chromebooks. Lenovo’s current opinion suggests that it is preparing together with the software giant from Redmond a second attempt.
