Yamaha CD-S2100, CD and SACD

Yamaha CD-S2100

This compact disc (CD) and Super Audio CD (SACD) features a clean and sleek design. The Yamaha CD-S2100 displays the artisan manufacturer expertise in the field of musical instruments. In one unit, the Japanese brand designers have managed to combine different materials, including metal and wood. The front panel is made of metal (brushed aluminum) and wooden sides. The location of the tray has been studied millimeter. Just above the tray is the small information screen that looks semi-mirror, which shows information of the current song. It is available in two colors: black or silver.

The optical reader can work with CD, CD-R, CD-RW and SACD. The CD-R and CD-RW discs can contain MP3 and WMA files. The Yamaha CD-S2100 shares the same transport mechanism that the CD-S3000, which is the top of the model range of the brand. Allows you to read large amounts of audio recorded on a disc with high accuracy . The loading mechanism is firmly anchored with special reinforced thick iron pieces of 1.6 mm thick, placed in front of and behind the loading mechanism. This blocks the transmission of vibrations caused by the rotation of the disk, preventing them from reaching the circuit board.

The CD tray is made of aluminum for high rigidity, to reduce secondary vibrations caused by resonance of the disk and the rotation of the rotary engine, resulting in quieter operation. This SACD player features a fully symmetric construction with separate analog and digital circuitries. The loading mechanism is positioned in the center, and the digital power supply and the plate are on the left side, whereas the analog power source and the corresponding plate are right. The central skeleton running from the front to the rear of the chassis and aluminum front panel is half a centimeter thick. Another detail of high quality is the DACs (digital to analog) 32-bit ESS Technology.

Another strong point is the audio playback via USB. The USB port is equipped with its own DAC, allowing direct digital audio input, for example from a memory key or on a computer. It has its own internal clock and is compatible with ASIO 2.3 protocol for USB DAC function. This means that the unit is compatible with digital audio up to 192 kHz and 24 bits, and that can play DSD (Direct-Stream Digital) natively. The frequency response ranges from 2-50000 Hz for SACD (2 CD A 20,000 Hz) with a signal / noise ratio of 116 dB and THD 0.002%.

The sleek remote control provides a great feel to the touch, thanks to its metallic texture. It is designed like the aluminum front panel of the reader. It has the usual buttons to control playback and hop song, but also serves to select sources and adjust the volume. The machine weighs 15.6 kilos and measures 435 by 137 and 438 millimeters. The retail price of the Yamaha CD-S2100 is 2,000 euros.
