Professional Displays matrix IPS / PLS / VA WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) are becoming more affordable. Niche of the most expensive monitors now occupied models with ultra-high resolution 4K or “cinematic” format 21: 9. It is worth noting that the video content of ultrahigh-definition very little and there is a problem with scaling interface many applications in Windows.
The hero of our review -27 inch monitor with a resolution of BenQ BL2710pt WQHD – worth about $ 580 today . The manufacturer claims that this model set a new type of VA-matrix -AHVA (Advanced Hyper-Viewing Angle) and it is designed for CAD / CAM architects who need accurate color rendering. But for the money it is interesting to buy and regular users: to view videos, photos and enjoying the special effects in modern games.
Recall that the matrix * VA (and produces them today, only one company – AU Optronics) have the same good color as matrix IPS / PLS, but inferior to them in the viewing angles. But there is a matrix * VA and a significant advantage – the shorter the response time, which is so fond of gamers . New matrix AHVA designed to solve the problem with viewing angles and a serious competitor to IPS / PLS. How well it turned out, we will soon find out. From the outset that we do not look at this through the eyes of designers monitor and designers, and see how it is interesting for the average user who appreciates high quality images.
Design and Features
Appearance BenQ BL2710PT immediately speaks of his professional destiny. The monitor does not claim to be the slender, handsome, and looks solid and even more cumbersome. He is unlikely to decorate the living room or bedroom, but in the modern computer desk will look good.
The body is made from high quality black matte plastic, decorated with silver logo only BenQ. Display surface – semi. Build quality is excellent: Plastic never flexes or creaks. For lovers to hang the monitor on a wall there are VESA-mount. Weight of the structure decent – 8.2 kg.
Front monitor inserted into a heavy rectangular base that can serve as a shallow tray for storing pens, pencils, papers for notes and other details required for each desktop. In front done a large circular hole, which can be used for wiring .
Loved the huge number of adjustments to the display panel position: it can lift and lower, tilt and reject, twirl in hand and even installed in portrait position.
In addition to a good base and a rich set of ports (as discussed below), the monitor is equipped with an ambient light sensor and the user’s presence. There are also two built-in speakers 3 watts. Housing they are unlikely to be useful, as most users prefer to connect to a computer external speakers.
Interfaces and menu
User BenQ BL2710PT undoubtedly be delighted presence of a rich set of interfaces. Most of them are located behind the lower side of the monitor: port USB 2.0, HDMI, DVI-D, VGA DisplayPort, and audio jacks. On the left side of the monitor are two more ports USB 3.0.
In the lower right corner there is a panel with six touch-sensitive buttons menu on the monitor, which is highlighted when approaching those hands on 4-5 cm. Steady only the power button – the most extreme right.
Among the various menu functions should also mention various preset modes: sRGB, CAD / CAM, Presentation, Reading, Photography, Film, Eco and Custom. Also has an M-book, optimizing the screen when connected to a MacBook.
Among the interesting features we can mention Smart Reminder – «smart” system to remind you to stay.
Touch keys respond well and are easy to use, but not labeled, so digging in the second level of the menu, you need to keep in mind what each of them.
Image Quality
Judging by issued by the monitor image, the new matrix AHVA is not inferior to the best examples of matrices IPS / PLS: great color reproduction and deep blacks can be seen with the naked eye. Resolution 2560 x 1440 pixels on the screen with a diagonal of 27 inches to whom it may seem small, because the number of dots per inch (PPI) is equal to only 109, but no one is not looking at the monitor screen with the same close-up as a smartphone or tablet. And the text and images look clear and legible.
Loved the complete absence of flicker, as well as high uniformity of color temperature in almost all modes of operation .
New matrix AHVA offers excellent viewing angles, but lost the highest contrast inherent in the old matrix, made by the technology MVA / PVA. If the viewing angle both vertically and horizontally become equal to 178 degrees, then dropped to the level of contrast matrices IPS / PLS. Response time is also deteriorated. The passport of the monitor provides the following technical specifications: Contrast – 1000: 1, the maximum brightness – 350 cd / m², response time – 12 ms (4 ms GtG).
In fact, the actual performance of the monitor BenQ BL2710PT were as follows: maximum brightness -320 cd / m², the static contrast – 998: 1, the maximum response time for DVI-D connection by – 25 ms (average – 22.5 ms), color rendition – 99 7% sRGB. It is noticeable that the response time is not as pleasant as stated in the specifications, and it is comparable to the IPS-monitors.
Very positive thing can be called that color reproduction of the monitor “out of the box” close to the natural and unsophisticated users remain completely happy with the image. Thus, the monitor is not perfect not only for watching movies and video games dynamic, but also for more demanding image quality tasks: editing photos, creating computer graphics t. P.
